GENERAL

„Innovation = value through ideas.“ Only an idea that creates sustainable value through implementation is an innovation.

→ Innovation is a process through which innovations are successfully introduced to the market.

→ Innovation management includes measures that promote the creation of innovations in organizations.

→ An innovation management system describes all of these control activities.

  • Observation 1: implementation problem. Companies do not have an idea problem but an implementation problem.
  • Observation 2: risk problem. Ideas focus on growth and costs and neglect elements of risk.

Example: Danske Bank, Estonia.

  • Idea: Transaction platform for money transfers. Strong growth at low cost.
  • Problem: Risk of „money laundering“ not sufficiently taken into account.
  • Effect: Significant destruction of value (penalties).
